The theme “Accepting Imperfection” for the 2024-25 Reflections Art Program invites students to explore the beauty and value of embracing flaws and embracing the uniqueness of their personal expressions. This theme encourages participants to reflect on the ways imperfection plays a role in life, art, and creativity.
My Own Style
This animation represents myself drawing something in MY own art style instead of trying to draw something in a style that is not really mine. When I first started learning how to draw I always saw others work much better than mine because they were more realistic or defined. But now I know that I need to draw things in MY own style. This animation depicts me accepting my style and shedding a tear of joy illustrating how much I have grown as an artist.

Haloween Ragtime
The piece had lopsided rhythms, and slight imperfections due to the fact that it’s based solely off of improvisation.

Self Acceptance
My work relates to the theme because it shows that you don’t need to look perfect or compare yourself to others because you are perfect in your own way.

Life's Catalysts
In my artwork, there's a group of cups made to properly support an ecosystem by holding water. The center cup cannot hold water in itself. This prevents a lush ecosystem from growing, but creates a beautiful scene below. The center cup may be imperfect, some may consider it broken, but it still facilitates growth, albeit in a different way than the o
The Process of Life
The pictures are a collection of life and how we, or nature live with its ups and downs. It's the Process of Life, my title. Sometimes we don’t accept something just because it isn’t perfect, but when is life perfect? That's the idea behind my collage. The events that are experienced aren’t perfect, but we accept them by moving on and they get better at the end of the day. It’s not just despair, but having hope. ~ Eduardo, Grade 12
