Wilson PTSA is 100% volunteer organization/non-profit.
I recently read an article written by Gary Friedman, Chairman, CEO of Restoration Hardware. One quote really stuck with me. Gary writes, “In a world of dupes, fake news and fast fashion, how do we gain control of our time and know what and who to trust? We believe it starts with the right questions. What are our values and what do we value?” (2023). I was inspired by his words and it forced me to ask myself, what are the values of the PTSA (Parent Student, Teacher Association) and what values do we aim to stay true to?
We value student success, family engagement, education, equity, diversity, health, team work, support for teachers and administration, plus so much more. We value giving our talents and time, whether it be only an hour or hours on end, without putting a price on it.
I was recently given the opportunity to view the Wilson PTSA press (scrap) books from the years of 1943-1945. I read through many of the articles and notations and during this time of war, as the men were serving overseas, the women and volunteers of the PTSA/PTA stepped up to provide support towards the welfare of the students and the needs of the schools and community. They put in the work and gave extra time to the school in this time of need. Last year, 2022-2023, Wilson PTSA officers, chairpersons and volunteers recorded an average of 466 hours a month,116 hrs. a week of time volunteered. The values of PTSA 80 years ago have remained true and we strive to uphold these values today. We will continue to emphasize the value of making change, promoting collaboration, raising the standards and giving of our time, as the PTSA evolves and grows.
PTSA is so much more than a local fundraising organization for your school. Wilson PTSA is here to advocate for what matters, but we can’t do it alone. We ask for family, parent, guardian and community ideas but beyond that we need your help and support.
We thank all those who have continued to support the PTSA and we welcome everyone to spend your time with us.

Wilson High School PTSA President, 2023-2024
